Black Earth Rising is a long form thriller which, through the prism of a black Anglo-American family, examines the West’s relationship with contemporary Africa by exploring issues of justice, guilt, and self-determination.。主要剧情共分三个故事：《此路不通》：资本家王兴企图实行“定息20年”和取消“公方代表”，在反右斗争中受到严肃批判。《旧恨新仇》：右派分子张东曦向党进攻，先进工作者赵玉山控诉张在解放前杀父的罪行。《疾风劲草》：华东大学秦兆龙等利用整风运动向党进攻，共青团员杨文英与其坚决斗争。。
