テレビ朝日初の本格シットコムとなる本作は、さびれた温泉旅館・虹の屋の玄関とロビー、従業員室、大浴場の入口、エレベーターという限られた空間で繰り広げられる群像劇。主人公は虹の屋の3代目である父親に反発し家を飛び出すも、うだつの上がらない日々を送っていた柿丘哲郎だ。劇中では哲郎が実家の窮地を救うため10年ぶりの帰宅を果たすも、虹の屋は100年の伝統を誇る老舗旅館の品格やサービスが完全に消え失せ、一筋縄ではいかない従業員の吹き溜まりと化していた。。The Balkan Peninsula is notorious for being one of the great battlegrounds of history.
